HSC Coaches Information

Thank you so much to our coaches and to those who wish to step up to coach. It is a very rewarding endeavor. All of our coaches are unpaid volunteers and probably our biggest asset.

Many of our coaches started out in our U06 division and have moved up along with their kids.  We have some coaches who do not have kids in our program any longer or have aged out.  There are a very friendly group and are always willing to help each other out.  When you become a coach you will be placed onto a special "team" in TeamSnap which will give you a direct line to all of the coaches in the club.

Risk and Safety Management

  1. All coaches, assistants, managers and parents working with team members that are not their own must submit their clearances to a Director of the Club either by turning in a copy of them at the shed on the weekend or mailing them to hulmevillesoccer@hotmail.com.  These records are maintained securely in our system.  Your clearances will not cost you anything as you are a volunteer.  If you have not obtained your clearances yet, you can start with the EPYSA Clearance Guide.
  2. As a coach, you are a mandated reporter. We must all do our part to keep our kids safe. In 2014, the Pennsylvania state legislature passed a bill to amend the commonwealth’s Child Protective Services Law. Known as Act 153 of 2014, the law requires statewide standards in child safety. If you suspect abuse or neglect you are bound by law to report it. You can be held legally responsible if you ignore abuse. Understanding Mandated Reporting
  3. Field Painting. We must all do our part to ensure the fields are in playable condition. The board spends a significant amount of money before every season to have all fields built to scale and lines painted.  The lines only last so long, when you receive your game schedule you will also receive the paint schedule.  This schedule identifies when your team is responsible to paint the lines on your (or any) field.  Ask a parent to paint the lines during your practice time.  Involve the parents!
  4. You are a representative of Hulmeville Soccer Club. Your public actions are reflected upon the Hulmeville Soccer Club. Like all clubs and private organizations, we ask that you consider your actions out in public and hold yourself to a high standard. This is no different than other clubs such as Scouts, Lodges, Churches, etc.
  5. You will receive a field box key. It is your responsibility to keep the key safe. Field boxes are used to store the line painters, paint and flags. Should you lose your key, you will be charged for a new key. That one key opens all the field boxes. Do not lose it. When the time comes to retire your position, we ask that you return the key to the shed or a Hulmeville Soccer Club Director.
  6. Code of Conduct. As a member of the Hulmeville Soccer Club, we expect you to conduct yourself in a professional manner. This includes promoting a positive and safe environment for the other members of the club. When you are in a situation in which competing loyalties could cause you to pursue a personal benefit for you, your friends, or your family at the expense of the Hulmeville Soccer Club, you may be faced with a conflict of interest. All of us should avoid conflicts of interest and circumstances that reasonably present the appearance of a conflict. When considering a course of action, ask yourself whether the action you are considering could create an incentive for you, or appear to others to create an incentive for you, to benefit yourself, your friends or family, or an associated association at the expense of the Hulmeville Soccer Club. If the answer is “yes,” the action you are considering is likely going to create a conflict of interest situation which you should avoid.
  7. Fall Draft Our Fall season offers a more competitive experience where players compete in their division for trophies and bragging rights. We try and keep this competitive environment as fair as possible.  Every two years, the club will redraft ALL players.  Coaches from each division will observe the players as they practice drills and other soccer skills.  The coaches then get to choose the makeup of their team in round-robin style.
